Philip Stewart

Philip Stewart served as Dean and Johann Gerhard Professor of Christian Doctrine and Practice at Martin Luther International Seminary, where he taught systematic and practical theology. He also chaired the Committee on Education and Formation for the Evangelical Lutheran Conference and Ministerium of North America. Since 2014, he has been serving as a tutor in the Great Books at Harrison Middleton University.

Philip’s scholarship focuses on systematic theology, Christology, and virtue ethics, engaging the relationship between theology and philosophy.

An ordained minister and board-certified chaplain, Dr. Stewart brings significant pastoral experience to his work.
